Sebastian Varas, MD

Dr. Varas is a board-certified nephrologist and internist. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Católica in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and completed his internal medicine residency at Tufts University–affiliated Carney Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He then pursued a nephrology fellowship at Tufts University–affiliated Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

His clinical interests include bone mineral metabolism, electrolyte disorders, and hypertension. He is fluent in English and is a native Spanish speaker.

With a patient-centered philosophy, Dr. Varas is passionate about building compassionate and effective relationships that help patients better understand their health and take an active role in achieving their wellness goals.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors.
